While pursuing my bachelors of engineering course in southern India during the early nineties, I often encountered a peculiar situation after introducing myself and the identity of my native place, Jammu. Most people, I realized, had only a faint idea of this beautiful and peaceful place that forms the crown of our country and I had to explain in details Jammu’s geographical location and its rich history, consuming so much time that the listener would generally loose interest.
I understood that other than the holy cave abode of Sri Mata Vaishno Devi Ji, people do not have much insight into the ancient culture of this land of great Sufis and saints; of warriors of this soil who braved the daunting rugged terrains and annexed majestic mountains extending up to Afghanistan in the northwest and even up to China.
Since then, I have had this urge to showcase Jammu to the world, to create a space that could provide information of interest to people seeking to understand the culture, history and economy of Jammu. Through Jammulinks.com, we make an endeavor to paint a vivid picture of Jammu, alive with its local festivals, places of interest and the latest happenings. This site also offers an opportunity to the people of Jammu to provide broader visibility to their business and commercial ventures and link them to the world at large.
